A j Manger Jr.
Born in Blue Island Illinois May of 1968
My interest in the arts started at a young age with clay and painting. I realized I loved cooking and attended Washburn trade's culinary arts department 87-89.and worked extensively in the hotel and restaurant industry through out Chicago, As I grew older I found myself more interested in other mediums like wood , metal and finally glass.
Being relatively new to the art glass community, I'm a self taught glass artist with more than Seven years borosilicate glass working experience, My focus is on creating sharper images through precise craftsmanship and paying meticulous attention to detail through out each project.
Currently I am working the Graal technique into vessel's and solid sculpture, a method which I learned while studying under Robert Mickelsen in March 2002.
My work is carefully balanced between objective presentation, cleanliness and the individual look and feel of each piece.
